Dear Heather Mac Donald, Go Fuck Yourself

I had been sitting on this response for a little while and finally decided that I would respond to this Becky for spreading conservative lies about a movement that I am part of, a movement that many of you are part of, the Black Lives Matter movement. She is well known for her pro police and anti Black thought pieces as well as publications like her latest book, "The War on Cops: How the New Attack on Law and Order Makes Everyone Less Safe."

Before I go any further, I will let you read the latest trash Heather Becky wrote entitled "Black lies matter" and later retitled "The lies told by the Black Lives Matter movement" for the NY Post:

"facts are these: Last year, the police shot 990 people, the vast majority armed or violently resisting arrest, according to the Washington Post’s database of fatal police shootings. Whites made up 49.9 percent of those victims, blacks 26 percent. That proportion of black victims is lower than what the black violent crime rate would predict."

Heather you said this about the movement,"Yet the Black Lives Matter movement is based on a lie. The idea that the United States is experiencing an epidemic of racially driven police shootings is false — and dangerously so." Clearly you are delusional. The movement for Black lives is about deconstructing and dismantling systems of oppression that plague Black and non Black People of Color. The focus on police violence against Blackness is only the tip of the iceberg. Our work is expansive and addresses oppression in terms of criminalizing Blackness, perpetuating misogyny, limited access to quality education, financial instability, lack of access to proper health care and a host of other issues.

Becky couldn't you have used a better argument better than "Blacks constituted 62 percent of all robbery defendants in America’s 75 largest counties in 2009, 57 percent of all murder defendants and 45 percent of all assault defendants, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, even though blacks comprise only 15 percent of the population in those counties?" Evoking "Black on Black crime" is used as a tool in an attempt to say “Black people fix your problems at home before you hold us accountable.” That statement is dangerous in many ways, would there be Black on Black crime IF we had an equal playing field and there was no White privilege to be concerned with? Statistically, "Black on Black crime" is actually less than or equal to White on White crime, we the Black people get a bad rap because society is socialized to see Black as impure, bad, putrid. This leads to internalized racism, the need for a White savior, doing everything possible to be the opposite of what ethnically comes along with being Black.

"Gang shootings occur almost exclusively in minority areas. Police use of force is most likely in confrontations with violent and resisting criminals, and those confrontations happen disproportionately in minority communities."

It is interesting that you would bring up Chicago as an example without bringing up the social determinants that lead to the alleged violence committed by "Blacks" in that city. Because all Black people are criminals, right? Wrong. The fatal flaw in your finding that "In Chicago, 80 percent of all known murder suspects in 2015 were black, as were 80 percent of all known nonfatal shooting suspects, though they’re a little less than a third of the population. Whites made up 0.9 percent of known murder suspects in Chicago in 2015 and 1.4 percent of known nonfatal shooting suspects, though they are about a third of the city’s residents." I'm not going to be like you and spout poverty rates, stats on how access to quality education is being destroyed, unemployment and the amount of Black folks who actually contribute to society to counter your argument in support of police brutality and pigs in general. All over this country we are extremely concerned about the crime in our communities and we do work that people like you and the media don't want to show. Your who game is about casting us as savages when it is social and economic investment and many other solutions that will be needed. Heather, if you have no solution to present outside of your white gaze, please shut the fuck up and stay out of our community.

When you said that "Gun-related murders of officers are up 52 percent this year through Aug. 30 compared to last year," I laughed. I laughed because, the incidences of cops dying in the line of duty is the lowest it has ever been in decades. You lie white lady, and we ain't here for it. You take two unrelated and isolated incidents and call them "cop assassinations" while we are murdered in cold blood by pigs, doctors, elected officials, and etc. No, Black people are the one being assassinated. Black Lives Matter did not inspire hatred toward pigs, and white people, 400 years of oppression on every level of society did that. The lies you tell, only prove that you do this work for one reason, maintain a society that keeps your whiteness in power. You don't like the idea of losing your privilege and seeing us protest incites fear of the impending loss of your power.

"Officers are routinely surrounded by hostile, jeering crowds when they try to conduct a street investigation or make an arrest. Resistance to arrest is up, officers report. Cops have been repeatedly told by President Obama and the media that pedestrian stops and public order enforcement are racist. In consequence, they are doing less of those discretionary activities in high-crime minority communities."  <<< LIES!

Lie #1: "Officers are routinely surrounded by hostile, jeering crowds when they try to conduct a street investigation or make an arrest. Resistance to arrest is up, officers report."

TRUTH: A protest that I organized here in Houston as a BLM organizer. This was one of the less police heavy ones. Our other protests have seen attendees range from 5 to 20 while police outnumber us 2 to 1 one in order to intimidate and show force.

Lie #2: "Cops have been repeatedly told by President Obama and the media that pedestrian stops and public order enforcement are racist. In consequence, they are doing less of those discretionary activities in high-crime minority communities."

TRUTH: These "pedestrian stops" are racist as they only focus on Black and Brown folks going about their daily business. You know, like "Stop and Frisk" which made life hell for People of Color in New York. We are not some animals in a zoo.

- Stop and Frisk -

A brief, non-intrusive, police stop of a suspect. The Fourth Amendment requires that the police have a reasonable suspicion that a crime has been, is being, or is about to be committed before stopping a suspect. If the police reasonably suspect the person is armed and dangerous, they may conduct a frisk, a quick pat-down of the person’s outer clothing.

-The Broken Windows Theory -

A criminological theory of the norm-setting and signaling effect of urban disorder and vandalism leads to additional crime and antisocial behavior. The theory states that maintaining and monitoring urban environments in a well-ordered condition may stop further vandalism and escalation into more serious crime.

- Racial Profiling -

The discriminatory practice by law enforcement officials of targeting individuals for suspicion of crime based on the individual's race, ethnicity, religion or national origin.

"For the past two decades, the country has been talking about phantom police racism in order to avoid talking about a more uncomfortable truth: black crime. But in the era of data-driven law enforcement, policing is simply a function of crime. The best way to lower police-civilian contacts in inner-city neighborhoods would be for children to be raised by their mother and their father in order to radically lower the crime rate there.

Tell that lie to Charles Kinsey and his autistic patient... (picture above)

No matter how you try to spin it, your loaded argument using "Black on Black crime" will NEVER overshadow police brutality or catch up to the White on White crime that is conveniently absent from mainstream news cycles. So let's call a spade a spade and focus on the institutional and structural oppression that existed before, during, and after the creation of building blocks that formed the foundation of our nation. Oppression that enables law enforcement agencies to abuse prescribed power, and institutions to continue other forms of subjugation that you refuse to acknowledge. White supremacy is truly so insidious that no one will admit that White on White crime is just as high as "Black on Black crime." Let's have a real conversation and talk about how the deck is stacked against the Black community.

Go fuck yourself Heather Becky,

Ashton - Angry Black Man & Black Lives Matter activist

P.S.  It would help you to address your contribution to white on Black crime, and your complicity with your friends like the KKK, the GOP, Dylan Roof and etc.
